Subject: Bangladesh Embassy in Paris celebrated the 47th Independence & National Day and commemorated the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Bangladesh and France by hosting diplomatic reception on 27 March.
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Paris held the 47th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh through a series of programs. A Diplomatic Reception was hosted by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Paris to celebrate the 47th Independence & National Day of Bangladesh at the “Bangladesh House” on 27 March 2017. This was also the occasion to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relation between Bangladesh and France.
Around 200 guests including Ambassadors and diplomats accredited to France, UNESCO officials, French government officials, business executives and members of the French civil society attended the event.
The Bangladesh Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Mr. M Shahidul Islam in his welcome address recalled with gratitude the support of French intellectual Andre Malraux during the War of Liberation. He paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who led Bangladesh to independence, and highlighted the socio-economic progress being made by Bangladesh under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Earlier on 26 March (Sunday), the Embassy celebrated the Independence Day with the expatriate Bangladeshi community in France through holding a Community Reception and a discussion meeting with the participation of leading community personalities.
A key element of this year's celebration of Independence Day in France was the launching of the French version of the Unfinished Memoirs of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Salon du Livre de Paris, the largest book fair in France in the afternoon of 26 March 2017.
