Subject: Bangladesh Embassy in Paris celebrated the Bangla Naboborsho 1423 & Rabindra-Nazrul Joyonti 2016

           Bangladesh Embassy in Paris celebrated the Bangla Naboborsho 1423 & Rabindra-Nazrul Joyonti 2016 on 08 May 2016. The event, composed of cultural performances and appreciation of traditional Bengali food items, brought together Embassy officials and hundreds of expatriate Bangladeshi nationals and their families at the Embassy premise in a festive mood.  

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Shahidul Islam conveyed the best wishes of the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Foreign Minister to the expatriate Bangladesh nationals living in France. The Ambassador underscored the impact of the celebration of Bangla New Year in upholding the centuries old progressive and secular fabric of the Bangladeshi society. He also spoke about the immense contribution of the literature works of Nobel laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore and National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in shaping Bengali minds and spirits.    

Some hundreds of expatriate Bangladeshis and their family members including children spontaneously participated at the event. The Embassy family members arranged a variety of traditional Bangladeshi food items including Panta bhat, aloo Vorta, begun Bhaja & Vorta, Shutkimach Vorta, Dal, deshi mach, Tele Bhaja pitha, Patishapta pitha etc. for the invited guests.

A magnificent cultural program was organized with a vibrant participation by the students of France-Bangla School, Sharolipi Shilpigoshthi, Sharolipi Bangali Shilpigoshthi, Bikoshito Nari Shagathon. They performed Rabindra Shangeet, Nazrul Geeti, chorus songs recitations etc. The Embassy family members led by the Ambassador also rendered chorus song & Nazrul Geeti, Rabibdra Shangeet, Lalon Geeti, poetry recitation at the cultural event. Former Dhaka University Professor Dr. Syed Kamal Ahmed and French University INALCO’s student Ms. Nina, a French national, recited Bangla poems at the Bangla Naboborshaw & Rabindra-Nazrul Joyonty. The cultural function was presented by Ms. Farhana Ahmed Chowdhury, First Secretary of Bangladesh Embassy.

After completion of the event, Ambassador M. Shahidul Islam thanked all the performers and audience for their cooperation.
