Subject: Embassy in Paris celebrated the 46th Independence & National Day by hosting diplomatic reception and community reception
A Diplomatic Reception was hosted by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Paris to celebrate the 46th Independence & National Day of Bangladesh at the Bangladesh House on 29 March 2016.
Around 200 diplomats, French government officials and members of the French civil society attended the reception. Mrs. Odile Sauges (ওদিল সোগ), Vice President of Foreign Affairs Commission of French National Assembly and Senator Jerome Durain(জেরোম দূরেন ) from French Senate attend the event as special guests.
The Bangladesh Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO in his welcome address paid tribute to the valiant freedom fighters, recalled with gratitude the support of French intellectual Andre Malraux during the War of Liberation, highlighted the socio-economic progress made by Bangladesh since independence and expressed satisfaction at the ever expanding bilateral relation between Bangladesh and France.
Community reception:
In addition to the traditional diplomatic reception, earlier, a Community Reception was hosted for Bangladesh community in France on 26 March 2016 at the Embassy. The Ambassador welcomed the guests and called upon all expatriate Bangladeshi in France to extend their support to the government in its effort to transform Bangladesh into a higher middle-income country by 2021.
A good number of Freedom Fighters, political leaders, businessmen, socio-cultural activists, media personalities and leading personalities from the Bangladeshi community attended the reception. Among others, Swadhinota Padak awardee Artist Shahabuddin Ahmed, freedom fighter K S Alam, freedom fighter Abul Kashem, freedom fighter Abdul Matin, freedom fighter Jamirul Islam Mia, freedom fighter Taslim Helal, and freedom fighter Ziaul Haque Nasir Chowdhury attended the community reception.
