Subject: Bangladesh Embassy in Paris celebrated the 46th Independence & National Day
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Paris celebrated the 46th Independence & National Day-2016 with the participation of expatriate Bangladeshis staying in France with due solemnity and fervor on 26 March 2016 at the Embassy premises. Bangladesh Ambassador to France H.E. Mr. M. Shahidul Islam hoisted the national flag in the morning at the Chancery in the presence of Bangladesh community people and Embassy officials. This was followed by recitation from the Holy Quran, observance of one minute silence showing respect to all the martyrs of the glorious liberation war, and reading out of messages on the occasion from Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs.
A good number of Freedom Fighters, political leaders, businessmen, socio-cultural activists, media personalities and leading personalities from the Bangladeshi community attended the reception. Independence awardee Artist Shahabuddin Ahmed delivered vote of thanks on behalf of Bangladeshi community in France. In his speech Mr. Shahabuddin urged the expatriate Bangladeshis to love the country with honesty, patriotism and tolerance to fulfill the dream of the Father of the Nation.
In his welcome remarks, the Ambassador paid tribute to the valiant freedom fighters, who made supreme sacrifice for the cause of the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. The Ambassador stated about the clarion call by Hon’ble Prime Minister in materializing the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman of building a Golden Bangladesh.
Towards the end of the celebration, the participants were entertained with traditional Bangladeshi food. The foreign guests were also provided with souvenirs from Bangladesh. A special prayer session seeking Almighty Allah’s blessings for eternal peace of the soul of Bangabandhu and the martyrs of the Liberation War as well as for the peace and prosperity of the country under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was led by the Imam of local mosque.
