Subject: Observance of the National Mourning day-2015 on the 40th Death Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Paris

 

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Paris observed the National Mourning Day-2015 in the 40th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Embassy premises on 15 August 2015 with due solemnity and wide community participation. The program of the day included hoisting of the National flag at half-mast at the Embassy, observance of one minute silence showing respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the members of his family who were brutally killed in the early morning of 15th August 1975, placing flower bouquet to the portrait of the Father of the Nation, reciting from the holy Quran, reading out of the Messages sent on the occasion by Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, a discussion meeting, and offering of a special prayer.

 

02.       The discussion meeting was presided over by H. E. Mr. M. Shahidul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to France. The discussion was held with the vibrant participation by freedom fighters, political personalities, artists, professionals and the community members living in France. As many as 20 members from different organizations of Bangladesh community spontaneously participated in the discussion session and they spoke on the life and achievement of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

 

03.       The discussants urged the participants to follow the instructions of Hon’ble Prime Minister to build a ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu. Among the local Bangladeshi political and community leaders Mime Artist Mr. Partho Pratim Majumder, Mr. Benjeer Ahmed Selim, Mr. Md Abul Kashem, Mr. Nazimuddin Ahmed, Mr. Enamul Haque, Mr. Abdullah-al-Baki, Mr. Wahid Vir SA Taher, Mr. M A Kashem, Mr. Delwar Hossain Koyes, Journalist Prof. Opu Alam, journalist Mr. Lutfor Rahman Babu, delivered speech at the event.  Famous Bangladeshi painter Shahadat Hossain was present on the occasion.

 

 04.         The discussion meeting was followed by a special prayer session seeking Almighty Allah’s blessings for eternal peace of the soul of Bangabandhu and the other martyrs and also for the peace and prosperity of the country, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. A good number of expatriate Bangladesh Nationals living in France participated in the program. After completion of the program, the participants were entertained with Tabarak and Mahfil food.
